So, how do I get kids to Love Learning??
Children in my Rancho Penasquitos and Poway Childcare Love to Learn Because I Engage Them!
Kids don’t like to be forced to learn, they like to learn through the creative force that runs through them all! I know that every child who comes through my door has a creative force inside of them that’s just waiting to get out, and it’s my job to find it and to engage it!
Finding the Strengths and Loves of My Poway Childcare brings this about!
How do I do this?
Answer: I set about letting them try many different activities, from coloring and drawing, to story-telling, to building things with legos and blocks, to acting things out physically. Kids at Pooh’s Pals Rancho Penasquitos and Poway Childcare get exposed to music, and dance and movement… engaging as many of their little senses as possible. I’ll find that some like Winnie the Pooh, and some like princesses, and some like superheros, and some like dinosaurs. It is through this variety of activties that I learn what they love, and what they’re good at. Then, and only then, can I know what will engage each little Pooh’s Pal’s mind.
“Never Focus on Weaknesses” is a rule at my Poway Childcare!
“So, how do you help kids to get better at something they struggle with?” some may ask? Simple- I expose them to it through their strengths.
Example: Let’s say that a child struggles with learning numbers or doing simple math. Instead of forcing them to sit and write a worksheet over and over again, or talk at them until they’re bored about “…this is the number 3- see my 3 fingers??” This will just make them feel bad- especially if other kids finish early and always get to go off and play before them- or at least bore them.
Instead, I’ll give them other ways to learn it. I may help one child may make up a silly song about numbers one through five. Another of my Poway childcare visitors may draw something, or create groups of blocks (of 1′s, 2′s, 3′s… etc.), and still another one may be asked to get enough apples for everybody at the table (requiring them to figure out, even if slowly, how many kids are sitting at the table). I’ll use their love of dinosaurs or princesses to get them to tell a story using numbers.
Children at this Rancho Penasquitos and Poway Childcare Learn to Work as a Team!
Lastly, have you heard that (in Pooh’s Pals math) 1 + 1 = 11??
What that means, is, the sum of the abilities of the individual child will never be as great as all of this Poway childcare’s children’s abilities combined! They learn here that, everybody needs help in some ways, and, everybody has a way that they can help the other children. When they experience this, they become more excited to work as a team and help one another out. The energy just becomes infectious, and the ability to learn for all of the children becomes like the momentum of a snowball rolling downhill!
Incorporating all of these strategies, and more, positively affects their long-term development!
And THAT, my friends, is how my Little Friends at my Poohs Pals Poway Childcare Love to Learn!
